For a no-fuss dinner outfit I pulled on an easy staple of mine, this jersey dress, and added some contrasting colors to give it a little festive feel. I picked up these flats on sale at UO Saturday- they were $10 a pair so I bought two. They're supremely comfortable, perfectly casual and quite practical as well; I wore them while riding my new bike this afternoon and they function as well as any tennis shoe would. Though they may not last long (there's probably a quality-related reason they were so cheap), I'll get a lot of wear out of them while I can.
And speaking of cheap, at this point the cost per wear for this dress is somewhere around $1.50 and I'd say that's not too bad. Ten wears for a Forever 21 dress is a surprise for me; in my experience that they typically begin to shrink or fall apart long before then. If you want to know my secret, it's not having easy access to a washer and dryer. Having to take my clothes to the laundromat means I'll wear something as many times as possible before washing it. I also wash many of my F21 pieces in the sink as if they were precious delicates. Spare me the "buy quality" advice please because even if I had the cash to buy well-made items I'd still probably shop fast-fashion. I couldn't see myself spending over $30 for a simple dress like this, so my approach is to buy cheap and love the clothes as much as possible because you never know when they'll be gone.

You look great and I love the pairing of the blue belt with the red of the dress. And your eyes in the third pic look amazing with the color of your hair.
love the post; all the remixes are great! i love pieces that you can mix and match.

Totally worth it! I am on the same wavelength. I've been a frugalista for so long, I can't imagine another way of life. I love the red and blue combo here. You look super festive. And every time I see your hair, I love it even more. I'm inspired to chop my locks too! Partly because "everyone else is doing it" and partly because it is WAY too damn hot, even for me.
Great remixing! You look beautiful in that shade of red, suits you super well!
Great colors together.
I've had some of my dresses for years. I've never really thought about how many wears I get out of stuff because well... it's a lot of wears! I said so on another post but, I really like that necklace hah.
Jersey dresses are made for miserably hot, sticky summer days. I love having fast fashion pieces, they are perfect, especially when the cost per wear is so low!
Love this mix - I never would have thought of putting red and aqua together - I'll have to check my closet to see what I got to play with in those colours..
I used to buy nothing that needed hand washing but nowadays I even wash a lot of machine washables by hand to extend their life span a little :)
This dress is just adorable. I love when you show all the different ways you've worn it. Cute necklace!!
You look amazing! I wish I loved somewhere with palm trees...
P.S. You quoted Beckett. You're a total legend.
The blue belt looks so great with that dress. I can't believe you've worn it so many ways with no repeats.
I love your new haircut is so cute! And the red dress is utterly gorgeous on you. :)
You are so beautiful!!
