b(logger) chic

These shots are from Monday, day one of a challenge from my boss to actually get dressed (as in, blog-worthy outfits) for a full week.  I made it three days, called in on the fourth, and then didn't take pictures on the fifth, so I was almost successful.  Between personal drama, a lax office dress code and a lack of fucks to give lately, I've been having a hard time coming up with reasons to be fabulous and challenges, whether self-imposed or otherwise, seem to be the best motivators.  Last year I used Valentine's Day as an excuse to style one dress four ways (1//2//3//4); this year I tried to work red into every outfit of the week.

I picked up this top last weekend during a really successful pick-me-up trip to the thrift store.  It's a petite Talbots top with a size small label; I don't see how a petite lady could wear this top at all.  It's kind of huge, even on my non-petite frame and ample bust.  At any rate, it cost $2 and fulfills all of my buffalo-plaid needs.  I unconsciously associate this pattern with grungey woodsmen so the combat boots were an obvious choice for footwear, and then to glam it up enough for work I added a bold black necklace under the collar (just so you know, necklaces under the collar are all the rage these days).  Ben said the effect was reminiscent of a lumberjack's wife... just what I was going for.

Perfection! Your red hair, the black tights, it's all goes together perfectly. And on top of that, it's sexy! You're not the lumberjack's wife here, you're the lumberjack's lover! Which is the title of my new erotic novel! Just kidding. I think.

Oh miss Tiffany! I love how you've styled this buffalo plaid shirt. You took it from casual into triffany-hood with your girly take! Adore the necklace and you.
